We wanted to experience the book together so we could go through all of the laugher and heartache simultaneously. And while we did this, we texted about it... a lot. We had tons of fun and we sincerely hope everyone gets a chance to read a book with their best friend. It is truly an experience we would like to repeat over and over.
Overruled by Emma Chase
I really enjoyed this book, the story flowed beautifully. Stanton is a cocky southerner living the life in Washington D.C. He has an open relationship with his high school sweetheart / baby mama back in Mississippi and a friends with benefits in Washington, bless his heart! (That was not used the whole book, which was disappointing.)
Stanton made me laugh one moment and infuriated me the next. But don't most men do that to us in real life? Stanton received a wedding invitation from Jenny, a.k.a the high school sweetheart and baby mama, so he takes his friend with benefits, Sofia with him back to his hometown to stop the wedding.
Stanton is the kind of guy that always has a plan but sometimes even the best plans go haywire. He's so worked up over stopping the wedding that he's missing things that are smacking him in the face. Again, isn't this the problem with all men, none of them can take subtle hints.
The main question here is, will Stanton wake the crap up before it's too late? I guess you'll need to read Overruled and find out for yourself.
I recommend Overruled to anyone who likes a little steam with their romantic comedy.
Stanton is your typical blind male and has tunnel vision for most of the book. He believes that he is in love with his high school sweetheart but many events occuring in the book beg to differ. Jenny is the old flame who he thinks he is still in love with after so many years, most of them spent apart. She has become engaged and he decides it is his duty to break up the marriage and claim the woman who is rightfully his.
Sofia is Stanton's best friend and colleague. Aside from the massive amounts of clothes she has, she would be any man's ideal woman but to Stanton, she is only a friend with some pretty awesome benefits. Stanton enlists Sofia's help in getting Jenny back and takes her home with him to do the job. Sofia was quite possibly my favorite character. She is strong willed and can command the attention of a room plus she's an attorney and that's pretty awesome in and of itself. She was kind and caring and loved deeply with her whole heart regardless of whether or not her head was in agreement.
This story had me laughing so hard I might've veered off the road a time or two but don't worry, no vehichles were harmed during the listening of this book. I would reccommend this book to anyone looking for a good laugh and a steamy, heartwarming story!
